Dear Families,

The Grandparents’/Special Friends’ Day was a tremendous success!  A special thank you goes to Stacy Klima and Cheri Orsi for all of their time and energy spent planning and organizing this special event.  Also, I want to thank all the parents who assisted with set up, serving and clean up for the reception.  In addition, a heartfelt thank you goes out to Sandra Deaver for arranging the daffodil centerpieces that made the parish center so festive.

I would like to congratulate the 7^th grade girls’ CYO volleyball team.  They brought home a large, beautiful trophy for their 2^nd place finish in the tournament final held at Bishop Blanchet High School last weekend.  I was quite impressed with their skill, team spirit and perseverance.  Congratulations on a fabulous volleyball season!

I also have great news regarding the adoption of a new math curriculum.  After a great deal of research and piloting the two different math programs, we, as a staff, have decided to adopt the Singapore: Math in Focus program.  Our teachers attended a workshop on Singapore Math last week and also visited St. Joseph’s School in Seattle to examine the program.  All of these steps helped guide us to this very important decision.  We are now ordering math materials and determining the professional development opportunities for our teachers.  We will also be offering a math workshop for all parents to introduce the program.  Thank you to our Parent Association for their generous gift of $5,000 toward the math program.

Just a reminder about First Friday mass on this Friday, May 3^rd:  during the mass we will do a special May crowning of Mary by our student council, and our third grade is responsible for organizing this mass.
